Microneedling
Micro needling is an excellent treatment that rejuvenates your skin; this is achieved from the way the tiny needles start a ‘healing’ process resulting in a refreshed, firmer and improved textured skin.
What is Micro-needling?
Micro-needling is a treatment that is designed to create trauma to the skin that responds in what is known as a healing process. This healing process triggers the skin to produce new and improved skin cells which also stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin. Sometimes the skin needs this stimulation to get the skin to produce healthier skin cells that results in radiant, smoother and even textured tone.
How does it work?
The treatment involves a series of tiny needles piercing the skin very quickly. At the time of the treatment, a specific serum is applied which is drawn into the skin via the tiny holes made. The type of serum used will depend on the need of your skin at the time of treatment.
This may be for pigmentation, acne, acne scarring or anti-ageing. The serum also makes it easier for the needles to glide over the skin.
The action of the needles piercing the skin then triggers the healing process response. The depth of the needling will depend on the indication of treatment.
For optimum results a course of 3 is recommended at 6 weeks apart. A maintenance treatment is also recommended at about 6 months after.
For the treatment of small scars, micro-needling helps to break down the scarring tissue and encourage the formation of new collagen. This treatment has shown to improve the appearance of scars so that they are not so noticeable and the skin is regenerated.
What areas can be treated?
The treatment is suitable for the – face, neck, décolletage and hands. Microneedling is also effective for the treatment of small scars
As well as total skin rejuvenation micro needling treatment is helpful for conditions such as acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles and sun damaged skin.
This treatment can also be used in conjunction with other treatments that include skin boosters and skin peels such as the BioRePeelCl3 skin peel and particularly with the Mandelic Acid Enerpeel for a refreshed and radiant complexion.
What to expect when having treatment
To make the treatment more comfortable, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to the areas.
During the treatment a specific serum is applied which is easily absorbed due to the tiny pin pricks which have been created. The aim is to enhance your treatment with products that will help provide hydration, anti-oxidant therapy, encourage collagen formation, anti-pigmentation and improve skin tone. Which type of serum used will depend on the condition of the skin.
Following the micro-needling, you can relax for 15-20 minutes with a cooling mask. These masks also contain serums similar to the one that is used during your treatment.
To optimise the results and aid recovery an LED light is applied for 15 minutes. This will also calm the post treatment response.
A post treatment skin care product will be given for you to take home.
The skin initially will look pink but this will calm down over a few hours. The healing process continues over the next few weeks and months resulting in a refreshed, plumped up appearance that is even toned, smoother and firmer.
For optimum results, it is recommended to have 3 treatments 6 weeks apart.
To maintain your improved skin, it is recommended to have one treatment after about 6 months.
